Education & Prevention
As part of our mission to end violence, we offer a variety of educational opportunities for schools, groups, agencies, and workplaces of any kind. Included in our free services are healthy relationship talks for schools and groups, Coaching Leadership Equity and Respect for school and community sports teams, and training opportunities for agencies and workplaces.
“If you are not willing to coach the whole athlete, which part of them are you willing to ignore?”
What is CBIM/CLEAR?
CBIM/CLEAR is an evidence-based youth dating violence program that leverages the impact of coaches and mentors to create positive cultural shifts within youth sports organizations and school athletics teams.
Coaches receive 2-hours of training from LAIH staff
Coaches facilitate weekly 15-minute discussions with their team, up to 12 weeks
Coaches collaborate with us, as trained CBIM/CLEAR Advocates in the Lennox and Addington community. We will stay in contact every step of the way to assist you as you implement the program.
Right now, CBIM is funded thanks to the efforts of Interval House of Hamilton. Community sports teams and school groups who participate are offered compensation for their time.
Training
Many people do not know the signs of abuse or how to respond when they suspect someone may be a victim. Trained via the Western Centre for Research & Education on Violence Against Women & Children, LAIH is able to offer MIOB and NFF training for workplaces and groups of any kind. These kinds of training are offered at no cost through our role in leading the Lennox and Addington Violence Prevention Coalition, the Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee in the area.
Make It Our Business
A educational training on how to respond to domestic violence in the context of the workplace. Make It Our Business provides information and education to help employers and other workplace stakeholders to meet their obligations under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act. This training is best for staff groups.
Neighbours, Friends, and Families
Similar to MIOB, Neighbours, Friends, and Families is a training that provides information and resources for the prevention of intimate partner violence (IPV). Created for everyone (beyond co workers and employees), NFF training educates attendees on how to recognize signs of abuse and how to respond when they think someone may be experiencing or perpetuating violence. This training can be provided to any individual or group and is appropriate for school settings.
